Villa Clara is an elegant, modern building situated on approx. 2 hectares of land on the hill of Tordibetto, which is part of the municipality of Assisi. The villa enjoys outstanding views, which range from the Monti Martani hills to Monte Peglia, Monte Tezio and beyond.
Beviglie Castle – a 12th century fortification on a square footprint flanked by two imposing round towers – is in the vicinity. According to Franciscan tradition, Friar Elia was born here. He is said to have been the architect of the Basilica of Saint Francis. Within the castle walls, the small church of the Immaculate Conception boasts valuable paintings by Francesco Appiani, Francesco Tartaglia and Cecco di Bernardino. The building overlooks Tordibetto Castle, which has its origins in a tower owned by Bectus Menneci. It was used as a granary and then extended during the 14th and 15th centuries to evolve into the castle we see today. Following recent restoration, both castles are now small, inhabited hamlets.
Villa Clara offers two double bedrooms, one on 30 m2 and the other on 25 m2. In addition, there is a small bedroom suite on 40 m2. The latter can sleep up to 4 persons. Bedrooms are en-suite and come with a double bed, a mini bar, HD TV and free Wi-Fi. Every bedroom has its own private outside space equipped with chairs, sun loungers and a small table, accessed via large French windows overlooking the valley. The trees in the olive grove, which is easily reached from the bedrooms’ outside spaces, produce high quality extra-virgin olive oil.
All guests have use of a large terrace to relax and to enjoy the spectacular views. Breakfast is served on a conservatory-type veranda. To make the stay more enjoyable, the guests also have access to a beautiful pool with amazing view over the valley close to the main building.
Parking spaces are available within the boundaries of the property.
